Soldiers use Massage to Reconnect with their Children after War
When you are a service man or woman, and your country calls you to action, you answer in many cases by going away to fulfill your service mission. In these cases, your loved ones get left behind. This can be especially troubling when you have a young child, or a child on the way. You may anticipate missing some special moments, including your child’s birth, but have you considered how you will reunite upon your return?

Considering a Career in Infant Massage
Infant massage has been steadily gaining international popularity, and so it only makes sense that many massage therapists consider adding infant massage to their repertoire.

Babies simply love to be touched. In fact, they thrive on it and it is a crucial part of their development. Children need physical contact for healthy growth and development. Normal affectionate touching is important, however, a regular routine of infant massage can offer additional benefits to both the caregiver and child. Nurturing touch promotes physiological, neurological and psychological development and function.

Considering a Career in Pediatric Massage
Many massage therapists just entering the field of massage therapy are looking for a specific focus and place to specialize. This is why the field of pediatric massage is so exciting. Now, a modality that hadn’t been spoken of in the past is starting to receive mainstream medical credibility. This acceptance allows for a massage therapist to truly follow their passion and begin providing massage therapy for children who are healthy or have special healthcare needs.

Infant Massage Teacher Training | Los Angeles, California"Thank you Tina! I must tell you how great the training was and the wonderful experience I have had thus far teaching. While teaching one of my clients with Cerebral Palsy, he had a moment with his mom that was so intense, peaceful and beautiful all at the same time, it made everything worthwhile. Thanks for such a great training and a great experience I will be able to carry with me forever."

Pediatric Massage Therapist Training | Seattle, Washington
“I went into the class thinking it would simply be a "how to massage a baby class." What I came away with was Tina's passion and a desire to see families grow and connect using massage. This class is a great addition to my work as a childbirth educator. I highly recommend it to anyone committed to working with families.”
Tamara Wrenn, CIMT, Certified Childbirth Educator, Healthy MOMS Perinatal Fitness Instructor, CPR & First Aid Instructor - Adult, Infant and Child, American Heart Association, La Leche League International Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program Administrator
(Harriman, New York)

Infant Massage Teacher Training | Vancouver, Canada“I am very grateful to have had the experience of working with Tina Allen, and her staff in my role as counselor and patient advocate for a population of children affected with retinoblastoma (eye cancer).

This disease strikes children from birth to three years of age, but their treatment and follow up can last a lifetime. As a result, many of the children develop post traumatic stress from their multiple hospital visits and constant interactions with medical personnel. Tina and her staff developed a program to help these babies and their parents. Using her expertise, she was able to teach parents to first practice gentle touch on one another, then on a doll and eventually on their baby. The experience was wonderful for the families that were participants in the program.

I am in awe of Tina’s expertise, enthusiasm and sensitivity and wish to express my support of her newest endeavor, Liddle Kidz, offering gentle touch message to infants and their parents. Our society in general does not teach parents how to calm their baby with gentle touch. I have observed first hand how this method can help quiet even the most upset child even under extremely challenging circumstances.

Best of luck to Tina and Liddle Kidz!”

"Thank you Tina, for making my dream of bringing touch therapy to the children at Mattel Children's Hospital a reality. We are required to do so much uninvited 'poking and prodding' in the hospital that it is a true joy to offer purely nurturing, compassionate touch to our children."

Share a memorable moment from an infant massage class:
Having time to talk with the parents, who came in for the free class. Listening to them and their experiences with their new baby was both informational and fun.

What have you learned from a family (or baby) in your classes? That babies are just like little people. If watched closely (i.e. asking permission to receive massage) they will in fact give you cues of their denial or acceptance.

What makes you happy? Sharing Positive experiences with others; when we work, or have fun, and enjoy the beauty this life has to offer.

What makes you sad? When others are stuck in a place of turmoil, and when they are unable to find peace with themselves.Home Made Pierogies
